On a mountaintop in the middle of the Sinai wilderness long ago, God carved out tablets made of stone and burned the ten most important things He wanted to say to the world onto them. He then g ave these tablets to his servant Moses to take back to the people of Israel as the source and foundation of the law for their entire nation. That was 3,000 years ago. Those ten commands have endured the test of time and over the last 2,000 years have served as the fundamental legal code for all of western civilization and as the basis for our common law here in the United States since its inception. The Ten Commandments have been a central part of our world’s moral and legal code for the last three millennia, and they will continue to shape and guide the consciences of nations around the world into the future. These ancient divine commands transcend all generations, all cultures, and all languages and communicate the heart of God’s will for all of humanity for the ages. Come along with us this summer as we study these ten divine commands and see how they can shape and guide how we live our lives today! |
